Everyone's favorite grom and my dear son Jaxxon just turned six so, in honor of his big day, we put together this little edit. He hand picked the music and clips from the past year or so. Featuring Jaxx and homies, Travis Waller, Justin Guthrie, Charlie Pacheco, Ollie Bell, and J.D. Palmer. Enjoy. [yt]http://www.youtube.com/v/avoDS-Jjazw[/yt] Read More
While the fire still burns in the mountains surrounding the Los Alamos area, a few weeks ago, BZ skateshop held it's second annual skate contest at the Los Alamos park. I was surprised it wasn't cancelled, as the entire community was evacuated in the weeks earlier. It was a monumental event in the sense that my son Jaxxon entered, and won his first skate contest. He was stoked! A big thanks to Pat and the BZ squ ... Read More
You can stop holding your breath... back on the grind, so to speak. Today is GSD, or the summer solstice if you wanna be a dick about it. This clip was filmed on Sunday. A windy as hell Sunday. Johnny and Jaxx. New park. Read More
WARNING: Gratuitous father moment. My son Jaxxon had a hell of a skateboarding year in 2010. I made him this lil' montage for his birthday to encapsulate said year. Jaxx at age 4 with cameos by Johnny Gomez and Taos park local Jonah (sp?)... music by Holly Golightly "Walk a Mile." (I know that the song has been used a bunch, but Jaxxon picked it, so deal.) Last month while out in L.A. for the TOASTED premier, we spent Saturday at the new skate-plaza in Santa Monica, known as Stoner Park. It was a miserable day weather wise... but, the park has the "goods," so the boys came through with some ripping. In order of appearance: Ben "Mr. New Mex" Woosley, Lizard King, Patrick Melcher, Gareth Stehr, Justin Roy, and Aaron Snyder (yes, that Aaron Snyder.) Read More
Ben Woosley, AKA "Mr. New Mexico," is pretty epic. I first got the chance to film him as he was re-entering the world of skateboarding after his stint as a competitive body-builder. Little did I know I was making a life-long friend. I had seen Ben skate once, years before moving back to New Mexico, but it was years after returning that I saw him skate again. I'd describe him on a skateboard as; powerful, skille ... Read More
I got this from Johnny Gomez: Yo Chain, hope your familiar with the term "Mall-Grab". I went up to Denver with Xander, Dave, and Travis Waller and stopped to skate the Colorado Springs park along the way. Here is a short one we filmed in the back bowl of the park. Skateboarders: Xander Rentz, Johnny Gomez, Dave Lopez, Travis Waller, and a Local Fly-Out Kid. Filmed by: Johnny & Dave. Edited by: Johnny. Music: Wal ... Read More
When you get the call (or text) from your pal telling you to "get south" because he's coming home for a visit, you best jump South. Daniel Lutheran is riding the wave of "up-and-coming" reef in the sea of "Skateboard Industry." He's currently living in Long Beach; touring, demoing, accruing sponsorships and most importantly: filming a debut video part for Toy. I can't wait! But, sometimes what you need most ... Read More
For months now I've been trying to spread the word about the skatepark in EspaƱola, New Mexico. The response is usually something like, "EspaƱola?" Yep! It's somewhat of a late '90's "X-Games" set up with large metal ramps set up in a back and forth manner... and super fun in my humble opinion. But on this, the first day of summer,.. really fuckin' HOT. Hot like a stove. But, Johnny Gomez and Neil Shankli ... Read More
Sometimes murking on a mission with no set plan is the best plan of action. I drunkenly stumbled onto a whole crop of good times last weekend in Albuquerque. I witnessed the local video premier of Nothing Special (which ripped, from what I remember.) Partied with locals, up-and-coming ams and a top Pro. Filmed (re-filmed) a serious banger, and throughout the entire ride I was meeting new friends or re-connecting ... Read More
